Reset

Definition

: to set again or anew

: to change the reading of often to zero

For the past few years, each New Year’s day, my family of five along with my sister gather together over dinner reflecting on both the previous year and the one that lies ahead.  We set an intention for the year by selecting a word that describes how we are going to incorporate a new vision into our individual lives. We also take that time to share what we value in the other people around the table. It’s become a great way for us to create a deeper connection within, but also with each other.

It’s in this spirit that I’m sharing my word “reset.”  A reset isn’t a renewed vow, rather it’s a fresh start. It requires a level of deep inquiry to observe and then a commitment to release patterns that simply aren’t working for you anymore.

Jane and I work through a similar process with our business. As a virtual team with a flexible work schedule we need to be intentional with our communication. It requires an understanding of where to place our own individual energies in order to build our Yogini Brands.  In the latter part of 2018, we decided to incorporate the word “effortless” into our vocabulary, when evaluating a new piece of business.

It’s not that we expect the work to be without challenges or time consuming, but we have found that when we align with businesses that share our commitment to transparency, the work is both pleasurable and seemingly “effortless.” Working with E-tailers such as UncommonGoods, The Grommet, Irv & Shelly’s and our soon to be new partner DoneGood, has been truly enjoyable. With that critical lens in place, we have found that as a team we make better business decisions. By working with companies that share our core values, our time is much more efficient.

This year has been particularly exciting with expansion into new retail locations (close to 300) and inquiries about our brand from large retailers such as Walmart. Conversely we’ve been tested as a team and as we remedy our growing pains have thankfully become stronger. It has been a year filled with highs and lows.

As we wave goodbye to 2018, we decided to do a reset. In the grocery world a reset is when a category buyer looks at all of his/her products once a year and adds or takes away ones that aren’t successful. In much the same way, Jane and I have taken a critical look at our brand and decided it was time to implement a long-awaited goal for our packaging.

We’ve been testing a single use variety pack for 4 months on Amazon and it has been a huge success. Our flavors will stay the same, however our new single pouch will be less expensive (under $3.50) and feature both an Instant Pot/Slow Cooker recipe adaptation.

But before we move forward, we always take a moment to look back and celebrate our work from 2018:

*           Increase 3X from 2017 in sales

*           36%+ in E-Commerce sales (new suppliers UncommonGoods, The Grommet)

*           National retail distribution through KeHE (you can find us in 21 states)

*           Receiving the 2018 Business Leadership Award from the Specialty Food Assn

*           Subscription box for Taste of Home to over 9,000 people

*           New Mentor and mentee at Food Marketing Institute

*           New team members (Debbie, Ann, Vonda & Leah)

*           New videos (thanks to Matt & Jesse for their fantastic work)

*           New cocktail recipes (thanks to Eden Laurin from 10 inc.)

*           Recipient of the Daily Herald Award of Excellence

*           Exciting coverage on ABC “Healthy cooking”

*           “Making a difference” on NBC

And none of this would be possible without your continued support, encouragement and commitment to our business.

So, we are inviting you to help us continue to share our passion for encouraging people to simply slow down and create a deeper connection over the shared meal by re-posting recipes on your Facebook pages, sharing our website and adding reviews to Google or Amazon!
