3 Tips + 3 Recipes for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

The season is upon us and so, too, the familiar feeling of many moving parts. It isn’t so much the main meals but all of the extras that can tip the balance. The holidays can feel overwhelming especially if you’re the host. Breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks don’t just happen! We’ve rounded up a trio of recipes for your slow cooker or Instant Pot to make life a little simpler. First, here are 3 top tips to help you along the way.

Tip 1 – Batch Chop

The chances are you will be chopping onions and mincing garlic for more than one dish (stuffing, gravy,) so why not batch chop and prepare it all in one go? You can refrigerate, covered, for up to 3 days and freeze any leftover.

Tip 2 – Soups On!

Soup is a light and satisfying introduction to your meal and it tastes so much better on day 2 or 3 so prepare it ahead, or freeze in advance. A drizzle of truffle oil, some crispy bacon or fried onions, popped pumpkin seeds or toasted nuts added as a topping will jazz it up. Keep a pack of good quality part baked baguettes on hand, Trader Joe’s Half-Baked Idea Ficelle’s will do the trick.

Tip 3 – Potluck Dessert Course

It has become de rigeur to request that guests bring a dish. We often ask guests bring dessert and a cheese course. That way dining can go well into the evening with a fabulous long pause between courses and even allows for a walk in-between.

Recipe 1 – Apple, Pancetta & Pecan stuffing

The turkey deserves a tasty stuffing like this sweet, salty, and nutty number. Mix up your leftovers with briskly-whisked eggs for a strata.
